Land O’ Lakes Tourist Association 1960s Brochure

This brochure is packed with historical information about the many lodges and businesses in our region in the 1960s. Mrs. Jeanette Whitfield was the Secretary of the association at the time and, with volunteers, worked tirelessly to put together this 52-page brochure and directory.

Hastings County joined forces with businesses in Tweed and Stoco to promote tourism. Tourism-related businesses in Sharbot Lake, Arden, Ompah, Plevna, Beaver Lake, Erinsville, and Tamworth are mentioned, as well as in Cloyne, Denbigh, Kaladar, Flinton, and Northbrook. One fascinating feature is the large number of lodges and camps in the area, complete with owner names, which are no more.

This brochure was found at an antique market in Aberfoyle, Ontario, south of Guelph and contributed by Sarah Hook.
