The photo of the Flinton United Church above was captured by Wilfred Lessard in 1964.
The early beginnings of the United Church in Flinton began when the Flinton and Addington Mission was set off from the Hungerford Circuit in June 1858. Soon after the Mission was established, Billa Flinton presented to it a 3/4 acre of land in Flinton for a small frame house and stable. In 1864, the subject of a new church was introduced. Billa Flint contributed the materials for the church, leaving only the labour to be supplied.
In 1876, a new church was erected. It was an elegant-looking structure, 45 by 30 feet, with a steeple 90 feet high.
