The Land O’ Lakes Historic Audio Tour

May 31, 2025 | Featured Posts, General Information

This one-hour audio driving tour was created by the Land O’ Lakes Tourist Association in 2007, which has since closed. It was available on CD for many years by the Cloyne and District Historic Association. CD technology in automobiles has nearly disappeared. The audio tour is now available for free on YouTube.

Almost 15 years have passed since the tour was first released, some parts have changed, but the history remains intact. The tour begins and ends in Cloyne. The tour prompts listeners about the Addington Road, the Gilmour Lumber Company and its tramway, the Tapping farm, Mazinaw Rock and its pictographs, the Mazinaw Monster, Massanoga, Eagle Hill, Vennachar and the 1903 fire. It also covers Buckshot Lake, Plevna, Ardoch, Fernleigh, and Myer’s Cave.

The tour was professionally produced and loaded with historical facts and legends. It is delightful to listen to, even if the listener is not driving. We hope you enjoy some of the historical highlights of our region!
