Kent Farrow will be our guest speaker at the next CDHS General Meeting, held on Monday, September 16th, at 1 p.m., at the Barrie Community Hall in Cloyne.
Kent has traced his family history back to Ireland and learned that during the famine in the late 1800s, Canada opened its doors to Irish immigrants, including his Great-Grandfather James Eldon Roy, who is, incidentally, buried in the Cloyne Pioneer Cemetery on Little Pond Road.
Kent was born in Toronto and moved to Etobicoke. As a sports enthusiast, he played basketball, football, and his favourite sport, baseball. He received his Bachelor of Arts and Physical Education qualifications at McMaster University and taught high school for many years.
Through Kent’s research, he discovered he is related to the Meeks, Woods, and many other local families.
Kent and his wife, Jan, built their cottage on North Shore Road on Skootamatta Lake in 1970. Listen to what he has discovered and see photos you’ve never seen!
