John J. Savigny started selling real estate in the Land O’ Lakes Region in 1947. Over the decades, he helped sellers find buyers, which ultimately helped develop the region. In his 1969 listing brochure, John Savigny offered a cottage on Mazinaw Lake for $5775. A large home in Denbigh with five bedrooms was offered for $5500. The North Frontenac Golf Course was for sale at an undisclosed price. You could be the happy owner of 100 acres of property near Hill Lake for only $2000.

John was also an agent for Rollins Lumber Ltd. in Belleville. Cottagers who wanted one-stop shopping could order a 20′ x 30′ complete cottage for $1928 plus $483.15 for erection! The cottage package included foundation materials, 2×4 stud walls, roof trusses, shingles, doors, interior partitions, floor joints and sheathing, windows, and bevel wood siding.
