Our General Meeting will feature a seldom-seen film entitled ‘Log Drive’ by Raymond Garceau. This professionally made film illustrates how logging was achieved in areas such as ours, decades ago. The 29-minute film is entertaining as well as educational. The National Film Board describes the film as:
“This short documentary brings to the screen a great seasonal event in the Québec spruce forest—the log drive. In lyrics set to a sprightly tune, the ballad singer describes this annual spectacle. A vast aggregation of logs moves downstream on a river, spurred by dynamite and sharp-tipped cant hooks, tossed and twirled by the boots of leaping men.”
Join us Monday, January 15th at the Barrie Community Hall in Cloyne at 1 pm. Everyone is welcome!
